NICE Oyster Company

NICE Oyster Company was established in 2014, as a way for co-owners Dana Morse and John Swenson to grow a product they could be proud of, and spend time working on the water. We produce Iron Island Oysters, in the upper reaches of the New Meadows River, and we are happy to say that our oysters are not shy: they have a bold taste and good shell quality. NICE Oyster Company is part of the New Meadows River Shellfish Co-Op, and while we don’t offer tours ourselves, we’re only too happy to talk with passers-by. We offer oysters for pickup at our homes, and can do shucking events by arrangement.

Thrumcap Oyster

Thrumcap Oyster is a small sea farm tucked between Warren and Spruce islands just south of the Islesboro ferry landing. With no nearby fresh water source, these are full-brine oysters, but the warm, shallow waters are rich in phytoplankton and make for a sweet, umami finish. Informal farm tours are given any time I’m out working on the lease or by appointment. BYOB(oat), my work skiff is too small for guests Oysters and cider (whalebackcider.com) sold on site, just give me a couple days notice.

Ice House Oysters

Ice House is a small family sea farm located in the waters of Deep Cove, Port Clyde, where the St. George River empties into Muscongus Bay. We are primarily growing oysters, but slowly adding scallops and kelp. From time to time we offer the freshest blue fin tuna available – join our mailing list (https://icehouseoysters.com) for that inside scoop and pop up event announcements. Our oysters are growing in cold waters, which makes them slow to grow, but we think contributes to their remarkable sea-flavor and pop in your mouth meats. You can’t rush perfection!
